Company History

After attending a meeting where he learned that a group had spent millions of dollars, but failed to develop a fool proof Internet Filtering Protocol, Greg Gustin founded SafeToSurf (STS). His motivation came from his concern for his son and other children world wide, who might be exposed to unfiltered Internet pornography.

The failure of others, using a software approach, led to his idea for a server-based hardware filter. He was confident his technical approach would work. He assembled a technology development team, and under his direction created the basis for his proprietary filter. In May 2003, he gave the first demonstration to the producer and staff of the famous TV show “America’s Most Wanted”.

The demo worked perfectly and so did STS Guardian Filter, the proprietary server-based filter. In late July, AMW sent a letter signed by the show’s host John Walsh. By September 2003 two more new proprietary products Videte™ and Videor (now called STS Alert) were added.

SafeToSurf is the solution to protect children, from not only the pornography and sexually explicit material, but from the predators and pedophiles that seek out children in chat rooms, instant messaging and e-mail for sexual exploitation.
