Management

Mr. Gustin, founder and owner of SafeToSurf, is uniquely suited to create and expand businesses that utilize computer technologies. His background is rich and deep with relevant experiences and accomplishments. He served his country as a fighter pilot and test pilot in the US Marine Corps, where he built a solid foundation in aerospace technology. He added to his skills base by developing training programs for pilots and for those who train pilots. His dedication to the continuous improvement of pilot training programs led him to upgrade human factors for interfaces between pilots and aircraft. His next logical progression was to define and implement improvements to both aircraft and flight training simulators.

Upon completion of a distinguished tour with the Marines, he became an operations analyst for the Advanced Design Concept Branch at McDonnell Douglas, and then a consultant to the Pentagon on advanced simulation systems. As the man-in-the-loop test pilot for the Northrop Corporation, he also served as the team leader for the company's ATF cockpit design and was responsible for the design of Northrop's advanced simulation lab.

Mr. Gustin's spirit for adventure fueled his desire for entrepreneurial accomplishments. In 1984, he founded HTM, to provide fund raising and business development services to emerging high tech companies. Mr. Gustin's pioneering loyalty to computer graphics and simulation then motivated him to form and finance Paragon Graphics, then world leader in the development of low cost, high performance military flight simulator systems. In 1992, he formed Top Gun Entertainment, with the mission to build the best fighter jet simulators for use and enjoyment by the public around the world. After development of the Virtual Fighter, an entertainment simulator developed using technology for military training applications, Top Gun completed a year long marketing test. Its success led to the creation of VRec, a firm which he later sold to pursue more time with his family.

Mr. Gustin's career has been punctuated many times with honors and recognition for outstanding contributions to the fields of computer graphics and flight simulation. He has published and presented technical papers for several organizations including the Society for Computer Simulation, AIAA Symposium on Visual Simulation, Interavia Forum, and I/ITSC. He has made contributions to the IATA Working Group on Visual Systems Standards for Commercial Aviation and has served as a member of the grant's committee for the prestigious Charles A. Lindbergh Fund.
